Brief introduction to LFTR and Thorium. Restrictive CC license selected because this material is all really (C)2009 Google. I just need somewhere to host the files. There are Alberta specific edits, which contain bookends ("LFTR to power crude oil extraction from oil sands") and generic edits. 3 lengths of each type (bookended and not). The 2009 edits have been replaced with a 2011 feature length documentary on Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactor, called THORIUM REMIX 2011 . A 2 hour...

City of Calgary's 2009 Carbon Summit , as captured for R4NT.com's article . If you simply want to watch the summit coverage, I'd recommend viewing the version edited for R4NT.com . It has the strongest narrative, and offers some teaser soundbites at the start. To review complete coverage (perhaps you want to watch a particular keynote in its entirety), then I have embedded a copy in my blog with functioning chapter stops , so that any single keynote can be quickly skipped to. The date of the...

Ben reviews aspects of astronomy which should appeal to hackers for Calgary's Protospace . Images taken from Ben's slideshow, I can't attest to their Creative Commons license-ability, only Ben's talking. To follow our video feed (to see what other videos you might want to recycle), I'd recommend sifting though our Protospace YouTube channel .

Rally to support CBC in the face of lowered ad revenue. Calgarians concerned about CBC having to reduce local news coverage, and the 800 jobs which are on the line. This footage was shot for R4NT.com where you can find a copy of the finished project as a YouTube embed. (But IA also has a downloadable 1280x720 MPEG-4 copy .) I've uploaded the raw AVCHD 1440x1080i footage since anyone looking to compile a pro-CBC montage of support could likely put it to use. But the original capture's AVCHD...

Otherwise be sure to select an edited copy from IA's player... something with "v19" in the title would indicate that it is not just raw footage you are watching. Stock footage shot of myself running out of an Apple Store with a MacBook box. I'd bought the MacBook earlier for iPhone development, but when asking for permission to shoot in the store I was told they have a policy against that. So I was only able to get an external shot at I run out. Intended as a quick visual gag in upcoming video. As per this CC license, you don't need to ask permission if you attribute with a link to this URL and maintain a similar license. But I'd still appreciate a...

While snorkeling in Cuba, took some shots of other divers using an underwater camera (320x240 M-JPEG QuickTime). Since most video hosting services (like YouTube or Flickr) don't make it convenient for other parties to download an use footage on their PCs, and Blip.TV is more convenient for hosting fewer edited shows than tons of raw footage... I'll stick it here. If you want to check out other videos and raw footage I've shot, check out opensourcevideo.blogspot.com .

Sunset (in Cuba). Raw footage is 1080i MPEG-2 via a SONY HDR-HC1. I've sped up x16 and spread out the luminosity for the smaller versions. The MPEG-2 artifacts are not obvious in the 532 MB original capture , but increasing contrast and blending frames at x16 reveals a grid pattern. Check out OpenSourceVideo.BlogSpot.com for an index of stock footage and videos I've released under Creative Commons license.

Four kids were using MacBooks outside a hotel in London. It looked pretty impressive, in a Steve Jobs alternate reality sort of way. I got a verbal ok to video tape them (no signed release forms). If anyone who knows them spots this, please forward so they can indicate if it is less ok to post this than in 2006-07 when I captured it.

While at a hot springs in Turkey, we were lounging under a tree when we spotted a dead bird crawling with ants. I shot some static footage at 720x480x60p (so it should be good for slow motion if the ants are crawling too fast for you). Then, after I shot the stock footage, another dead bird fell out of the tree freaking me right out. We moved to a different tree. Please head to the HTTP or FTP complete file listings, as the original captures ended with .m2t extensions, and Internet Archive has...

Windows Media 1280x720 at x64 speed. QuickTime/MPEG-4 1280x720 at x64 speed. ...which should give you a good indication if the footage is of interest. From that find the best speed ( QT@x16 , WMV@x04 , WMV@x16 ) for your needs. The raw MPEG-2 footage is also available... Part 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 ....

Cory Ondrejka gave a lecture on 2006-09-13 on Second Life, and allowed me to video tape. This was originally for internal use by Cambrian House, but some other attendees asked if they could get a copy. Posting to IA seemed to be the easiest way to faciliate that. This is just raw footage, and IA isn't the most convenient platform for casual viewing, so I'll post to YouTube or GoogleVideo if enough people express interest in viewing.

Have received many requests for source footage used to create " 9/11 Chronology " (on 20041102.Last.Chance DVD). So I've simplified the split-screen to being a 2-way, with no timecode overtop, and no pop-up-video information. Probably the most basic I can reduce the footage to and still have some sense of it being recontextualized. The ideal aspect ratio for watching this footage is 8:3 (4:3 doubled horizontally). That's pretty close to 2.21:1 as I've tagged the MPEG-2. Computers seem...

And the other accusations in both videos revolved around whether on not a plane impacted the pentagon, which I felt was effectively refuted by witnesses. ... Unless you are concerned about flashes-before-imapct I'd suggest avoiding "In Plane...

This chronology of 9/11 events, based on the 9/11 Commission Report. CNN, Fox, Naudet and Booker Elementary footage play in a 4-way split screen. 9/11 Commission Report findings (and other pertinent news stories) are displayed at their appropriate times. Audio includes radio scan of firemen's radio frequencies. ... From what I've been reading about "fair use", news stories are given greater leniency then fiction. And my personal feeling is that I've recontextualized the footage. ......

Years ago I had Lasik corrective surgery done at Mitchell Eye Centre (Calgary). They had a VCR set up to record eye operations so I asked them to record mine. This is off a VHS master. There is no audio.

On 2005-05-18 Richard Stallman visited University of Calgary to talk about the dangers of software patents. Hosted by Calgary UNIX Users Group. ... RMS makes a few references specific to Canada, but most of his talk is applicable to any country. ... This footage was recorded in HD 1280x720x30p at 16x9. I have pan/scanned it to fill a 4:3 frame. For talking head footage, didn't see any point in uploading HD resolution footage. And IA isn't generating properly formatted derivatives of 16:9...

Stock footage. HDTV (720p) timelapse footage of traffic in an intersection. Footage repeats, 50x then 10x. Shot in Calgary around 8th & 8th SW 4 PM (shoulda held out for rush hour). ... This footage is 16x9. IA seems to be ignoring that info and making its derivatives 4:3, so the thumbnails look wonky. Since the rez is so high, you can still use it as 4:3, just zoom in on the footage. ... http://opensourcevideo.blogspot.com/

Stock HD Footage - Plop in tub water, shot over Vahini's right shoulder. ... This was recorded on a JVC GR-HD1. This footage isn't well lit or anything. I'm asking IA to check if this footage can be processed in the usual IA (create MP4, etc.) workflow. ... For anyone doing a double-take at the file size. Second parody of MPAA's "Stuntmen Make Movies". ... Produced for R4NT.COM . Crom and I both agree that anyone who prefers "Point of No Return" over "La Femme Nikita" should be locked up.
